She was welcomed by Dr Jo Bayley, clinical director at the Trust, and Theresa Gardiner, the current senior sister for the minor injuries unit, as well as representatives from Stroud Hospitals League of Friends.
Dr Bayley said: “We are always extremely grateful for the great support we receive from the League of Friends, but this is an incredible display of generosity.
“The new trolleys are superb and will make a significant different for patients and staff – on behalf of the Trust I would like to thank Miss Cowley for this amazing donation.”
Theresa Gardiner, the current senior sister for the hospital’s minor injuries unit, said the new trolleys – which feature a built in drip stand, oxygen cylinder and powered assistance to change the patient position – were a fantastic addition to the hospital.
She added: “These are state-of-the-art pieces of equipment, great for patients and my colleagues love using them.”
Dr Tim Crouch, GP, General Committee Member of Stroud Hospitals League of Friends and former colleague of Miss Cowley said: “It takes a very special person to dedicate their career to helping others and then make this donation having retired.
This donation also shows how well-loved this hospital is and the League of Friends is delighted to have been able to enhance the service to patients thanks to this gift.”
