Work has begun on transforming a building in central Gloucester into the new home for many of the city’s community mental health and learning disability services.

²gether NHS Foundation Trust purchased Pullman Place, in Great Western Road, in August 2016.

Since then local architects Quattro Design have created plans to convert the four-storey office building into high quality, purpose designed clinic space and office accommodation for services.

The main contractors, E G Carter and Company Ltd, have now begun work on the site and the first teams are due to move in in late 2017.

Jan Furniaux, Service Director for ²gether’s Gloucestershire Localities, said: “We’re very pleased that work has now begun on creating our Gloucester Hub at Pullman Place. It’s an exciting development, as part of our ongoing commitment and investment in the continued quality improvement of our services.

“Pullman Place is the perfect location, in the centre of the city with very good public transport links. It is also near to other health and social care partner premises, such as Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, and our own Wotton Lawn Hospital.

“We’re investing in new premises, recognising that we need to continue meeting the changing needs of our local communities and provide the best possible accommodation from which to deliver our high quality services. This development will benefit service users, carers and also our own staff.”

The teams moving into Pullman Place are currently based in different premises in and around Gloucester.

Service users and carers directly benefitting from the move will be notified by letter and in person by their Care Coordinator as and when the services they use are moving.
