School Nursing Hubs

The School Nursing Service is offering a new style of supporting parents in the form of School Nursing Hubs. Parents who are referred to our service or who self-refer are invited to a group with other parents who have similar worries.

The group is facilitated by our Health and Wellbeing Assistants who are trained in the Solihull parenting approach and key public health topics, so will be able to offer professional support and advice. The Health and Wellbeing Assistant may know of a local organisation or voluntary group that may be of interest to the parent, so will signpost or refer them.

About the hubs

Parents who have been referred, or self-referred, to our service are invited to a facilitated discussion with a group of parents who have similar worries. Evidence suggests parents really benefit from meeting other parents with similar challenges with the opportunity of building relationships, sharing ideas and support in future years.

The group is facilitated by our health and wellbeing assistants who are trained in the ‘Solihull Parenting Approach’ and key public health topics, and provide professional support and advice and can refer or signpost to local organisations or voluntary groups where appropriate.

The hubs will usually have a theme of healthy lifestyles relating to topics such as healthy eating or your child’s behaviour related topics, such as anxiety and sleep.

The hubs are offered via Microsoft Teams meetings or face-to-face sessions which will usually be held in schools or other community settings such as health centres or libraries.

To attend online sessions, please complete the School Nurse referral form.  If you prefer face-to-face, contact the School Nursing team to find out where and when the next hub is in your area.
