The ninth annual Big Health Check and Social Care Open Day will take place in Gloucester next week.

The event will take place on Wednesday 24 May, at Oxstalls Sports Park from 9:30am – 4pm.

The event is aimed at helping people with learning disabilities to stay active and healthy.  Those attending will be able to take part in a wide range of activities, meet new friends and have fun.

There will be wide range of stalls for people to browse, and people will be able to have a go at plenty of sporting activities, including adapted tennis, Boccia, golf, adapted bikes, snooker, adapted badminton, football, rugby and trampolining.

Other attractions will include Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Gloucestershire Constabulary, including their police horses, Scrubditch Farm, a big red double decker bus and Mobiloo, who will be demonstrating their accessible changing, hoist and toilet facility. Workshops will include electronic music making for people of all abilities, circus skills, and Art Shape.

The event is open to anyone with a learning disability, as well as their families, carers and support workers.

Big Health Check Day is part of the implementation of the all-age, all-disability, Building Better Lives strategy.
