Community flu clinics for children and students

A troublesome mutant strain of the flu is sweeping the UK. It is believed to be more infectious than in previous years, resulting in more severe illness, increased hospital admissions and school closures.
Cases of flu locally continue to rise. It is estimated the peak in the South West will be the week commencing 22nd December.

The School Aged Immunisation team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is reminding parents and carers of the importance of protecting their children against the virus by ensuring they have their flu vaccination.

The children’s flu vaccine is safe, effective, and free, and is being offered as a simple nasal spray to all school-age children and young people, from Reception age up to, and including, Year 11, including those who are home educated and in special education. Read more here>

Parents and guardians, it is not too late to protect your children from flu in time for Christmas!

Our immunisation team is also offering the nasal flu and an injectable version of the vaccine at community venues across Gloucestershire throughout December for those children who do not wish to receive their flu vaccination at school, have missed it due to absence, are home schooled or not in mainstream education.

  • Saturday 13 December: Gloucester North Community Fire Station, Cheltenham Road East, Gloucester GL3 1AF. 9.30am-12.30pm
  • Saturday 20 December: Cheltenham West Community Fire Station, Tewkesbury Road, Cheltenham GL51 9SN
  • Monday 22 December: Tewkesbury Community Hospital, Barton Road, Tewkesbury GL20 5GJ
  • Monday 22 December: Stroud Community Clinic/Maternity Unit, Field Road, Stroud GL5 2JB
  • Monday 22 December: Cirencester Hospital, Tetbury Road, Cirencester GL7 1UY

Clinics (apart from 13 December) run from 9.30am-2.30pm.
