NHS Talking Therapies, Health and Wellbeing College and the Partnership Team were just a few of the GHC Community Partners supporting the MSK Community Education Day at Tewkesbury Academy on Wednesday 26 August, organised by an MSK Physiotherapy working group.
The aim of the day was to provide education, advice and health promotion to patients while they wait for an appointment, giving patients the opportunity to access a range of support and guidance, including from NHS teams and Voluntary and Third Sector Services and Organisations.
Zoë Hepburn (NHS Talking Therapies), Anita Pope (Partnership Team) and Phoebe Fulvio-Mason and Lorraine Jones (Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing College), collaborated on the day, to raise awareness of the support available from GHC through self‑referral. This includes help for people living with MSK difficulties and their carers to self‑manage symptoms, adapt to change, build coping skills, practise mindfulness, and access evidence‑based psychological therapies for common mental health problems.
One of the key offers highlighted was Live Better to Feel Better – a six‑week self‑management course delivered by the Health and Wellbeing College. The course is co‑facilitated by Peer Support Workers (all of whom have lived experience of a long‑term physical health condition), alongside trained mental health practitioners, including Psychological Therapists from NHS Gloucestershire Talking Therapies.
