Ward refurbishment work underway at Cirencester Hospital

Work to improve the patient experience as well as fire safety on the wards at Cirencester Hospital has recently started.

Our Trust is upgrading the fire compartmentalisation on both Windrush and Coln Wards as well as changing to single-sex accommodation for patients during the three-month upgrade.

National NHS guidance encourages the provision of single-sex accommodation for the safety, privacy and dignity of service users. After this work the 28-bed Coln Ward will be used for female patients and 21-bed Windrush Ward for male patients.

A temporary Thames Ward, which until recently was being used to care for patients during a refurbishment of Stroud Hospital, has been reinstated to provide beds while work is carried out.

Work on Coln Ward is being undertaken throughout October and on Windrush from mid-November. Work is due to be completed just before Christmas.
