Integrated Urgent Care Service Celebrates Anniversary

The Gloucestershire Integrated Urgent Care Service (IUCS) is one year old today.

The service was established on November 19 2024, following a successful bid to run the service by GHC in partnership with IC24.

Over the past 12 months, the IUCS has demonstrated its vital role in supporting the county’s urgent care needs.

This has included:

  • Answering 203,735 phone calls to NHS111
  • Responding to 8,540 online NHS111 requests for support/advice
  • Assessing 92,040 clinical cases
  • Providing 22,147 out of hours appointments
  • Visiting people in their homes on 4,859 occasions

Service Director Holly Smith said: “Reflecting over the past year, I can only be proud of what has been achieved and immensely thankful for the IUCS team, who go above and beyond every day (and night) to support our population to receive urgent care when they need it most.

“We are still learning and continuously striving to improve the service, ensuring it becomes even more effective and responsive. As we move into year two, we will continue to focus on key development areas, along with preparing for what we anticipate will be a very busy winter period.”

The service brings together NHS111 and a Clinical Assessment Service for the whole of Gloucestershire, with Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust working with social enterprise IC24.
