Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework Update

Approximately 40 people joined a workshop held to talk about the Trust’s approach to the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF).

The event, at Churchdown Community Centre, was an opportunity for Trust colleagues, service users, carers, Experts by Experience and community representatives to talk about two key elements of PCREF:

  • To support becoming an Anti-Racist Trust – what should we expect to see, feel and hear?
  • Shared terminology/language to use across race equity and community groups

There is still more time to get involved in this important work and another event is planned for 1 April. This will be at the Friendship Cafe, in Gloucester, from 10am to 3pm. The focus will be on co-producing an ‘Anti Racist Statement’ and looking at our vision for the Trust’s PCREF commitments for the future.

Nicola Hazle, Director of Nursing, Therapies and Quality, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who attended the event and brought their enthusiasm, experiences and opinions which they shared openly and honestly. We can only make progress on this issue by hearing from a wide range of voices and while we know we have a long way to go, this event was an important step on what will be a lengthy process but one which the Trust is treating as a huge priority. If anyone else would like to join in we would love to have your involvement.”
