Nutrition and Hydration Week 2025

Nutrition and Hydration Week 2024 at Tewkesbury Community Hospital

Nutrition and Hydration Week (17-23 March) is an annual event with a shared, global objective to reinforce, focus, energise and create activity and engagement to promote nutrition and hydration as a fundamental element to maintaining health and wellbeing within health and social care.

Following suggestions received from teams across the Trust, the main theme for this year’s campaign is Bone Health.

Nutrition and Hydration Week is always a great excuse to learn a bit more about nutrition for both our colleagues and patients, and as usual our facilities teams will be hosting various events across our hospitals and sites to mark the occasion:

Monday 17 March

Mighty Monday
Promoting the importance of including calcium and vitamin D in your diet to improve bone health.

Tuesday 18 March

Tasting Tuesday
Food tasting for colleagues to support and provide better guidance to patients.

Wednesday 19 March

Global Tea Party
Some of the products offered will include items that improve hydration, without compromising the fun and taste.

Thursday 20 March

Thirsty Thursday
A variety of drinks, milkshakes and ice lollies will be available to help promote hydration and bone health.

Friday 21 March

Fishy Friday
Fish is rich in several nutrients beneficial for bone health:

  • Calcium: Vital for bone structure and strength
  • Vitamin D: Facilitates calcium absorption and bone growth
  • Phosphorus: Works with calcium to build strong bones and teeth
  • Omega-3 fatty acids: Reduce bone loss and increase bone formation.

Saturday 22 March

Full English Brunch
The classic full English is bursting with protein, vitamins and nutrients, keeps you full-up for longer and is even good for your brain. With this in mind, we will be serving up a full English brunch.

Sunday 23 March

Sunday Roast
Our pork roast is:

  • High in protein content: Pork roast is an excellent source of protein, essential for muscle growth and repair.
  • Rich in vitamins: It’s packed with B-complex vitamins, supporting various bodily functions.
  • Mineral-dense: Pork roast provides essential minerals like iron, zinc, and phosphorus – great for bone health.

Also on the menu: sage and onion stuffing, savoury minced beef, meat-free mushroom and chicken-style pie, roast potatoes, West Country Cheddar mash, vegetables, apple crumble and custard, rice pudding and fruit yoghurt.

Get involved!

Our colleagues will be taking lots of pictures throughout the week, so that we can celebrate and share our activities on social media:
