It’s not too late to get your Covid booster!

January 29, 2024

If you’re living in Gloucestershire and haven’t yet taken up the opportunity of a Covid booster, our Outreach Vaccination and Health team and local pharmacies are offering drop-in vaccination clinics to those who are eligible.

Those eligible for a Covid booster include:

  • residents in a care home for older adults and staff working in care homes for older adults (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • frontline health and social care workers (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • all adults aged 65 years and over (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • people aged two to 64 years with certain health conditions (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • children aged six months to two years with certain health conditions (Covid only)
  • persons aged five to 64 years who are household contacts of people with a severely weakened immune system (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • people who receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • pregnant women (Covid booster and flu jab)
  • two and three-year olds (flu nasal spray)
  • primary school and secondary school pupils up to year 11 (flu nasal spray, delivered via the school vaccination programme).

Oonagh Wilson, who manages the Gloucestershire Health and Care Outreach Vaccination and Health team, said: “We provide clinics in a variety of venues, such as cafes, libraries, community hubs and venues that support the homeless.

“The team offers a roving model, based on offering vaccines to areas where we may have low vaccine uptake, or underserved communities who have limited access to public transport, etc. If people have concerns about receiving the Covid vaccine, they are welcome to come and have a conversation with us.

“We also have the opportunity to offer basic health checks, such as blood pressure checks, and provide people who attend the clinics with health information, as well as signpost them to health services, partner organisations and local services.”
