The process of appointment of non-executive directors is overseen by the Trust Development Authority.

Chair of the Trust, Ingrid Barker, said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard to the board and am sure his wealth of experience will allow him to make a valuable contribution as we continue to develop and improve community health and adult social care services – always listening to our patients and service users – and as we prepare for a Foundation Trust application, which is expected to start this year.”

Richard was director of finance at the University of London between 2006 and his retirement at the end of 2012. He is treasurer and a trustee of Hereford learning disabilities charity Aspire Living and a member of the finance committee of national learning disability charity Mencap. He is also a governor of Worcester College of Technology and a member of the audit committee of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Ingrid Barker added: “Non-executive directors play an important role in the oversight and governance of the Trust, each bringing new skills and perspectives, and I would like to thank David Harwood for his contribution to improving the health of local people in Gloucestershire. On behalf of the board, I wish him the best for the future.”
