The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent health and adult social care regulator in England. Their job is to check whether hospitals, care homes, community services, GPs, dentists and other local services, meet the national standards. They do this by inspecting services and publishing their findings.
During an inspection, the CQC will consider the quality and safety of the care and look at whether the service is:
- Safe
- Effective
- Caring
- Responsive to people’s needs
- Well-led
