Team of the Week – Covid Response Team

August 26, 2021

Our Team of the Week is the Covid Response Team which provides a service for members of the public who need testing ahead of planned procedures and for staff in order to help get them back to work as soon as possible to keep our services running.

Over the past year the Team continues to adapt and innovate to support the delivery of the best possible service to our patients and now we are looking for three talented individuals to join our friendly team…

The Testing Team is a large team and successful applicants would be joining a supportive and welcoming group of core staff, which is supplemented by a number of regular bank staff. The Clinical Support Worker (see link below) would be a great role for someone looking for a route into the NHS, or for someone wanting to add to or develop their patient interaction skills further. Their primary role is testing patients and staff, both at our drive-through testing facility and in community settings. They will also be trained to use our new point of care testing machine, which enables us to provide rapid results and has really added a new dimension to the service we offer. It’s a busy and varied role, and a key part of our Trust’s response to the pandemic. Although it is a fixed-term contract until the end of March 2022, the team is very supportive of development opportunities for its members.

Meanwhile, the Testing Team Administrator role would suit someone who enjoys a work environment where no two days are the same, with a busy but manageable workload, as part of a supportive team. The role includes booking patients for their Covid tests, playing a key part in patient care, as well as a number of other functions, including working with the testers to ensure the service runs smoothly, and processing the results once received from the labs. Full training is provided and although this is a fixed term contract, it again provides a great opportunity for someone keen to work for the NHS, in a team that is very supportive of ongoing development.

The Covid Response Development Coordinator sits within our Stock Management Team and would be a perfect role for someone who is organised, enjoys building relationships with teams across the organisation, and would like to take the opportunity to look at how a service can be developed and evolve. The Stock Management Team is responsible for ensuring all teams in the Trust receive the personal protective equipment they need to do their jobs safely and to keep patients safe, so this is a critical role. It will involve working with teams across the organisation to understand their PPE needs, as well running PPE hubs and deliveries. The Stock Management Team is a relatively small team and this role offers the opportunity to be out and about across the whole of the county. As this is a fixed term contract, it might be an excellent secondment opportunity, but the team is also very supportive of the ongoing development of colleagues, so it could also be the start of someone’s NHS journey.
