Team of the Week – Eating Disorders Service

October 19, 2021

Our *Team Of The Week* is our outstanding Eating Disorders Service which provides assessment and treatment for people with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and other types of eating.

Our service offers a person-centred approach to care across the county, working with individuals to plan a treatment package that is best suited to their needs.

Our Eating Disorders service is a multi-disciplinary team and aims to work closely and flexibly with individuals, their families and others that are important to them. Indeed, the service is shaped and improved by user involvement and the team works closely with service users to ensure that the care they provide meets the changing needs of those they care for.

The service also works with primary care (GPs) and secondary mental health services, in order to provide a comprehensive package of care>

The team offers a range of psychological therapies as recommended by NICE and are hopeful to re-open an adult day programme, child and adolescent home treatment and support groups.

Our Community Eating Disorders Team are the first point of contact for anyone coming into the service.  The team complete initial assessments and offer advice and guidance to GPs, practice nurses and carers.

Once an initial assessment has been completed the team work with the individual to decide the best course of action. The team also work very closely with GPs to ensure physical health is monitored.
