Annie said: “This was a great opportunity to highlight to MPs and peers the benefit of early diagnosis and the impact of access to specialist heart failure services, which improve quality of life for patients and reduce hospital admissions for heart failure.

“It also gave us an opportunity to demonstrate to one of Gloucestershire’s MPs what a good specialist heart service the county has.”

The event was organised by the British Society for Heart Failure (BSH) with speakers including BSH chair Professor Andrew Clark, patients Richard Mindham and Harry Prentice and GP Dr Dawn Harper.

As part of the event Mr Carmichael signed a pledge to continue supporting the specialist heart failure service available in Gloucestershire.

He said: “I am very proud of the excellent specialist heart failure service we have in Gloucestershire and I will work hard to ensure that this service continues to be supported in the future.”
